The Masai Mara is one of Africa’s most rewarding wildlife destinations, with open grasslands, riverine forests and a remarkable concentration of predators and plains game. It is particularly well suited to travellers who want time in the field rather than a rushed checklist of sightings.
Beyond the reserve, Kenya’s wider safari circuit can include Amboseli for elephants and Kilimanjaro views, Lake Nakuru for rhinos and birdlife, Lake Naivasha for boat trips and walking experiences, and Ol Pejeta for a different conservancy landscape. Before you set off.
How many nights should I spend in the Masai Mara?
Three nights is a useful starting point for a focused safari. Four or more can give you additional field time, particularly for photography. We can recommend a suitable duration once we know your dates and wider Kenya route.
Can Safari Lab arrange a private safari?
Yes. We specialise in private, customisable wildlife journeys and also arrange selected group options. We confirm the vehicle, guiding, accommodation and activities for your specific itinerary. We do not operate fixed group departures.
What is included in my Safari Lab quote?
Your personalised proposal sets out the accommodation, meal plan, transport, game drives, park fees and any additional activities included in your particular trip. It also identifies exclusions and optional supplements. We do not assume that every package includes the same services.
Should I travel to the Mara by road or bush flight?
Road travel from Nairobi commonly takes around five to seven hours, depending on the route, conditions and accommodation. A bush flight can reduce road time, but transfers, baggage allowances and schedules matter. We can compare both options in your quote.
Can you recommend accommodation for my budget and meal preferences?
Yes. We recommend lodges and tented camps according to location, comfort, access, availability and your preferred budget. Tell us about vegetarian, Jain or other meal requirements so we can check suitable arrangements with the properties before confirming your stay.
When is the best time to visit, and is the Great Migration guaranteed?
The Mara offers rewarding resident wildlife viewing through much of the year. July to October is generally popular for the migration, but animal movements vary with rainfall and grazing. River crossings cannot be scheduled or guaranteed. We help choose dates around your interests and the broader safari experience.
What happens after I send an enquiry?
