Exploring the Corbett Tiger Reserve
Jim Corbett National Park
Introduction to the Park
At the heart of the reserve lies the Jim Corbett National Park. It’s the main attraction of the reserve, renowned for its rich biodiversity. From the towering Sal trees, expansive grasslands, to the meandering Ramganga river, the park is a visual treat for nature lovers. But it’s the inhabitants of the park – the Bengal Tigers, Asian Elephants, Leopards, and over 500 species of birds – that truly make it special.
Flora and Fauna of Corbett
The park boasts a diverse range of flora and fauna. It is home to over 110 tree species, 50 species of mammals, 580 bird species, and 25 reptile species. You can find dense forests of Sal, Khair, and Sissoo trees along with Bamboo groves. Animals like Sambar deer, Spotted deer, Barking deer, Jackal, Langur, Wild boar, and Himalayan Black bears are common sightings. However, the most prized sighting is, of course, the Bengal Tiger.
Bird Watching in Corbett
Bird watchers will find themselves in paradise at Corbett. With over 500 bird species, including both resident and migratory birds, the park is a vibrant spectacle of colors and melodies. From the Great Hornbill, White-Backed Vulture, to the exotic Red Junglefowl, each bird adds a distinct charm to the place. Safari Lab’s bird-watching safaris led by expert ornithologists are a fantastic way to explore this avian world.

Dhikala Zone
The Dhikala zone, located at the core area of Corbett, is the largest and most varied zone. Known for its stunning landscapes and diverse wildlife, it’s a favorite among tourists. The zone is home to the largest concentration of Bengal tigers in the reserve, making it a promising spot for tiger sightings.
Bijrani Zone
The Bijrani zone is popular for its extensive grasslands and dense forests, which provide excellent opportunities for spotting animals and birds. It’s also known for its high density of tigers and offers some of the best chances for tiger sightings after the Dhikala zone.
Jhirna Zone
Open throughout the year, the Jhirna zone offers excellent sightings of animals like sloth bears, wild elephants, and deer. It also serves as an excellent spot for bird-watching with numerous species of birds found in abundance.
