Sanjay Nair is the founder of Safari Lab and a wildlife photographer with more than sixteen years spent exploring wildlife landscapes across India and Africa. Years in the field shape the way he plans safaris: around access, time, guiding, animal behaviour, realistic logistics and the character of each reserve.

ABOUT
Before Safari Lab, Sanjay worked as a writer and later in digital marketing. Wildlife was not initially a career plan. It began with a casual trip to Jim Corbett in 2008, where he watched a tiger attempt to hunt a baby elephant. In that moment, the Corbett stories he had read in school seemed to come alive. What began as curiosity gradually became years of field travel and photography. Repeated journeys through tiger reserves, the Masai Mara and other wildlife landscapes built relationships with guides and local teams and, more importantly, a practical understanding of what changes a safari on the ground. That experience now informs Safari Lab’s wildlife-first planning approach.
AREAS OF EXPERTISE
Sanjay’s photography received a Jury Selection at the Nature inFocus Photography Awards 2022. His work or field perspective has also appeared in or been quoted by publications including The Guardian, Forbes, Travel + Leisure Asia, Fodor’s, Newsweek, A-Z Animals and TravelPulse.
